mwd rss feeder

I came to some conclusion that many people who check on technology news buzz go to only few sources and that’s about it. So I thought I will write few ways I check my news and also give some juice to my fellow tech blogs that have been feeding MWD with latest tech news and tips.

First what I do is I check Techmeme just because I like to see what’s buzzing around Silicon Valley since I live in Iowa, can I say LOL? After I am done with TM and done with top news, I usually head over to Google Reader and check “Technology Folder” which you can download my bundle here. You will automatically be subscribed to ‘top’ 56 blogs in technology, yes including MWD. If you are interested in SEO, WordPress Gurus etc.. let me know.

So within few minutes I am filled with really good tech news but I do like to visit sites like Digg – Technology, Reddit and Latest Tech YouTube videos and check  what others have shared and ranked high for.

If I would have to rate which blogs I like the most, those 5 would be:

Engadget – Those guys are crazy I mean really crazy! I have not seen any blog receiving demo and review units as they do.

Gizmodo – Ever since  that iPhone 4 deal I think Gizmodo gives pretty fair tech news and not always rewrites. I think I check that site because AOL is banned therefore I can’t check Engadget from work, can I say LOL again?

peHub – Its part of Reuters and I love to read it first thing in the morning especially “First Reads” posts.

ArsTechnica – That website is filled with all kind of tech, geek stuff. I like the fact they write about everything and not just Social Media :) like some do. Yeyyyy Twitter is down, lets write about it!

AppleInsider – If I am ready for some Apple Juice in the morning that’s the site I usually visit, they write about rumors, leaks and rewrite lots of things but it’s all good stuff!

Anyway, this takes a lot of my time on top of that all I am working full time job+ blogging + being College Professor.

I decided to build my own mashup of everything! Techmeme+Google Reader + My Fav Tech sites.Basically crawler goes out to 200 tech sources checks for related content by multiple tags and puts it all in one Tab. It checks 200 sources every 15 minutes to 2 hours it all depends when I want the news. This “my mashup” is not out yet for beta or alpha release but eventually I will release the url to public once I add some more features.

Here is the sneek peek:

I hope you like what you see! If you would like me to tell you when is done, please send me an email to: contactmwd at gmail dot com . I will be more than happy to share link with you in about week or two!

By the way If you liked this post do me a favor and use one of the Social Bookmarks below, I really appreciate when people share articles :) , no really I do!

Motorola Droid Pro is coming out very soon on Verizon network so our friends at En Gadget released this Motorola Droid Pro video review which pretty much explains everything you need to know about Motorola Droid Pro.

Motorola Droid Pro Known Specs:

  • Android 2.2
  • 1GHz OMAP 3620 Processor
  • 512 ROM (smartphone memory)
  • 2GB RAM (smartphone storage memory)
  • 1860 mAh Battery
  • 5MP camera with flash

I must say that I like it in some way, I think Motorola wants to compete with Blackberry just by the look of Motorola Droid Pro, don’t you think?

Also 1860 mAh battery will give you plenty of talk time and battery life. I think with normal use this phone you can charge it every 2nd day vs others that you have to charge every night before you go to sleep.

Motorola Droid Pro looks very similar to Droid or Droid 2 when it comes to specs so its all up to you what type of design you really like. If you ask me I, would still go with Droid Incredible just because it takes incredible pictures, its very fast and Amazon now started selling it for less than $50.

Well I hope you like the video, and again thanks to our friends at EnGadget.

Samsung Galaxy Tab teaser video which seems to be more official, has been released. What you are going to see in this video are some specs that Samsung Galaxy Tab is going to have. As of right now we don’t know what the official release date is going to be in USA at least.

Thanks to our friends at Engadget for sharing.

Dell Thunder with Android OS and amazing 4.1 inch OLED screen will be released to AT&T later this year.  Dell Thunder will come with 8MP camera and LED flash, talking about Flash. Dell Thunder will come with “Full Flash10″ which means you can stream videos from sites like Hulu and other flash based video sites. That’s going to be really nice since 4.1 inch touch screen is also WVGA OLED. Engadget said they think SnapDragon chip is under the hood, and we think so too.

Some pix thanks to Engadget:

While our HTC Droid Incredible is on the way for review, which official release date is April 29th, we would like to share few HTC Droid Incredible reviews that others already wrote about.

BGR_Droid_Incredible

Enjoy…

BGR – “Forget Verizon Wireless — the HTC Droid Incredible is our favorite Android device to date, and for $199 on a two year agreement, we are not sure there is a better deal to be had on the carrier”

LaptopMag – “Motorola Droid owners now have a reason to be jealous”

Engadget – “Let’s just put this out there: the Droid Incredible is the best Android device that you can purchase in America right now. It’s better than the Droid, better than the Nexus One, and certainly beats the pants off of any previous generation handsets like the Eris, myTouch, or Cliq.”

Gizmodo – “And the Droid’s single redeeming feature over this, a physical keyboard, is actually less usable than the custom keyboard HTC’s put on the Incredible. The Nexus One for Verizon looms, but the only reasons it could be considered superior—it feels better built and more expensive, and the promise of timely updates from Google”

Those are some of the best reviews we could find for you. Our Droid Incredible is delayed, therefore we probably will not be able to review before April 29th.

Kindle Streak Thanks to Engadget who leaked specs this morning about Dell Mini 5 which is probably going to be named Dell Mini 5 Streak. Must say that I like the name!

Anyway, as it appears by the leaked image below Streak will have:

  • Android OS (Probably 2.1)
  • 5-megapixel Camera with Autofocus and Flash
  • Front VGA Camera! (So you can use video chat?, think Skype!)
  • 30-pin Docking Connector
  • WVGA (800 by 480) TouchScreen
  • Kindle “Book Reader” Applications
  • Amazon MP3 download (That’s comes with Android OS anyway)
  • Amazon Video Streams
  • Amazon Store

If that all is true as Dell leaked image below shows, I say: Bye Bye iPad! or as Heidi Klum would say in German: “Auf Wiedersehen”

Have you noticed how Sprint is quite lately ? Well it might have something to do with 4G phones which are coming this summer, that is at least what Sprint told Forbes. Best of the news is that 4G is already served to 32 Million people on Sprint Network and it will be expanded throughout the year for areas such as Boston, New York, San Francisco and Washington DC. By end of 2010 there should be 120 Millions people covered with 4G Sprint Network (Don’t get confused! There is no such thing as 120 million Sprint Customers!)

sprint 4g

Back to the original Topic:

According to CEO Dan Hasse who really talks a lot in my opinion, we shall expect not only one “SuperSonic” smartphone capable of getting 4G speeds but dozens of them!

Looking through all related stuff Dan Hasse said as it appears to me Android OS will be the winner, but let’s not rule out iPhone 4G (Ring a bell?)

It’s kind of ironic that iPhone 4G is coming almost at the same time as Sprint is announcing WiMax to “Forbes”?  Hmm?…

Remembering blog post from Engadget from early this January story above about “Sprint” getting “Supersonic” HTC A9292 WiMax as first 4G smartphone might be true after all , despise all rumors …

Whenever I see Employee Monitor screenshots I always take it as truth … T-Mobile employees are really good at taking pictures of their work monitor :) .

That’s it from me today (I think) , wish you warm weekend and don’t forget to subscribe to our RSS Feeds, Send Tweet’s or use Buzz Button below.

Verizon Communications Inc.

Ouch just heard that ATT is suing Verizon because they ran Ads “There is A Map For That”. I kind of knew that is going to happen just because it does not seems right. I noticed lot’s of companies are doing that lately, where they mention competitor’s brand name in the add.

Here is what ATT says:

In essence, we believe the ads mislead consumers into believing that AT&T doesn’t offer ANY wireless service in the vast majority of the country. In fact, AT&T’s wireless network blankets the US, reaching approximately 296M people. Additionally, our 3G service is available in over 9,600 cities and towns. Verizon’s misleading advertising tactics appear to be a response to AT&T’s strong leadership in smartphones. We have twice the number of smartphone customers… and we’ve beaten them two quarters in a row on net post-paid subscribers. We also had lower churn — a sign that customers are quite happy with the service they receive.
