iOS 5 Beta releases have been circling around for over 2 months now, I personally have it since iOS 5 Beta 1 came out. While doing some research I found out exact release dates when iOS 5 Betas will be released to developers and now that iOS 5 Beta 4 has been released, its time to talk about the final iOS 5 release.
My predictions for iOS 5 release was spot on, except this last one I missed the release date by only 42 hours. That means according to my research and calculation iOS 5 final release should be coming out either last week in August or fist week in September, said that I think iPhone 5 will be released around that time as well.
Apple will probably start sending invites for the Apple event within next two weeks, in which will just say “you are invited to bla bla bla on this date, the MOTD of the event is going to be called bla bla bla”, I am so used to those PR invites that is not even Wowing me anymore.
Anyway, if you are looking for new phone and really cant decide whether you should wait for iPhone 5 or buy some other smartphone, than wait just this one month and your deciding factor will chose what you want to get, iPhone or Android or maybe even Symbian
Well there is nothing really much to say except that Google+ app for iPhone has been released to iTunes, and you can download it via iTunes Link . Here is the thing! I was able to download the app and also use it for a bit, and then all of the sudden it started crashing on my iPhone!
I do know why! I am on iOS 5 Beta 2 and should upgrade to Beta 3 because from what I hear is that lots of people saw app improvement and less apps crashing. So far my 3 apps are not working correctly on iOS 5
Back in June, I personally predicted when iOS 5 release dates are going to be published. Now that iOS 5 Beta 3 was released on July 11th our predictions are so far 100% accurate.
iOS 5 release date prediction
OS 5 Beta 1 = June 6th
iOS 5 Beta 2 = June 25th
iOS 5 Beta 3 = July 11th
iOS 5 Beta 4 = July 25th
iOS 5 Final Release = Early September!
As you can see final iOS 5 release date we say its going to be early august, but then again after looking at some dates and stuff, my new prediction is late August and to be more accurate:
August 22nd or first week of September is my final prediction when iOS 5 will be released to public for iDevices.

Most of you iOS enthusiasts know that iOS 5 should support wifi sync from iTunes to your iDevice, but that might not be entirely true for Windows users. I can sync iTunes with my iPhone on Mac just fine via WiFi but on Windows there is no option “Sync over Wi-Fi connection” even in iOS 5 Beta 2.
It’s bit disappointing to be honest, but then again, these iTunes 10.5 Beta’s should be used for iOS developers that have to use Mac to code. Those of you that do have Windows and iTunes 10.5.0.43 and iOS 5 Beta 2 on iPhone or iPad – wait for Beta 3 which should be released mid July and then you will be able to sync your iDevices via wifi just like Mac users do.
Apple has released iOS 5 Beta 2 to developers. Other releases include iTunes 10.5 Beta 2 and Apple TV software Beta 2. They can be downloaded from Apple’s developer website.
Changes and things to note in iOS 5 Beta 2 include:
Wireless WiFI sync (must be enabled in iTunes 10.5 Beta 2 first) Video of Wi-Fi Sync
The option to backup to iCloud or the computer at setup
iCloud has a new logo in Settings
Over-the-air (OTA) software updates have been enabled
Notification appears as a bubble at first.
If there are no notifications in Notification Center, “No New Notifications” will appear
The Stocks Notification Center widget is turned off by default
Stock wallpapers are back but still the old ones from iOS 4
The version of iTunes that comes with beta 2 cannot sync devices that have the beta 1 software installed.
iMessage seed 2 will be unable to communicate with iMessage users on seed 1.
iOS 5 Beta is now ready to be downloaded (for those that have developers license). Our iPhone 4 was upgraded to iOS 5 and we would like to share iOS 5 features that we enjoyed.
iPhone 4 iOS 5 Features
With iOS 5 you won’t be needing USB cable to sync your music, apps and other things with your iTunes. When you are connected to same wireless network as your iTunes, your iDevices with iOS 5 will sync as soon as you push that Sync Now button. Not only that, but you will also be able to upgrade your iOS version via WiFi!
Shortcuts! OMG – oh, my god! I was really happy when I heard that iOS 5 supports keyboard shortcuts. You can set a list of shortcuts just like I set few above, omwh – on my way home. From what I heard, a lot of people jailbreak their iPhone just to be able to add the shortcuts, now all you need is to wait for iOS 5 to be released to public.
Not sure what to tell you about iCloud, except that you have 5GB of storage where you can store your important information and retreve it from any device that has browser. Have not played much with it but as you can see above I already synced my contacts, bookmakrs, reminders and calendar.
Oh! I love the twitter integration with iOS 5, because I can tweet pictures right from Photo Gallery, send urls from Safari. I was afraid at first that they only will allow one account, but they do allow more than one account to add. Best feature of Twitter on iOS 5 is the Update Contact! See I have 53.000 followers and follow nearly same amount back. When I hit that button, al my contacts get updated with pictures, twitter handle and bunch more.
iMessage is nice add-on to iOS 5. On my iPhone 4 with iOS 5 iMessage has been used constantly among those that also upgraded to iOS 5. So if a person does not have iOS 5 they will not enjoy the so called “free text messaging”. I message is like chat, it uses your data plan instead of SMS plan, I can see a lot of people saving money on their SMS plans.
Those are some of my favorite features of iOS 5 that release date has not been announced, but if you pay $99 for Apple developers lincense you can get it now. Remember one thing! If you don’t own Mac , you will have to lurk around the net to find iTunes 10.5 for Windows!
Update: Video I made of iOS 5 features on iPhone 4
Ask any questions regarding iOS 5 in commenting section below, we will try to answer them as best as we can…
At WWDC Stevie mentioned that with iOS 5 you will be able to sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch via WiFi but what he forgot to mention is that currently iOS 5 does not allow you to sync your iDevices over WiFi.
The Wifi Syncing feature for iPhone iPad and iPod Touch will be probably enabled soon but as of right now, if you are developer don’t waist too much time figuring out on how to do this.
As you can see in the picture below, Sync button is grayed out on my iPhone 4 (iOS 5) but if you connect it via USB cable sync works just fine.
Well I guess you will either have to wait until this feature is enabled for iOS 5 developers or until iOS 5 release date is announced.
