Well there is nothing really much to say except that Google+ app for iPhone has been released to iTunes, and you can download it via iTunes Link . Here is the thing! I was able to download the app and also use it for a bit, and then all of the sudden it started crashing on my iPhone!

Google+ for iPhone

I do know why! I am on iOS 5 Beta 2 and should upgrade to Beta 3 because from what I hear is that lots of people saw app improvement and less apps crashing. So far my 3 apps are not working correctly on iOS 5

October 2001- A glossy, shiny, rectangular box, featuring a 1.8″ Toshiba Hard drive, a circular wheel, and a small screen. Hardly remarkable compared to today’s touchscreen almost-as-smart-as-Skynet phones. But to the world at the time, the ‘iPod’ as it was called by Apple, was a revolutionary development in consumer electronic technology. Instead of carrying along bulky CD’s or cassettes, one could transfer songs from a personal computer, in a much more portable format too.

With Apple’s huge success through it’s inventive marketing schemes, and innovative improvements to the iPod lineup, MP3 players moved from strength to strength, until it’s waxen wings began to melt. Of course, as technology improved, more companies realized that there was more than enough capacity and processing power to simply run a few audio files on their phones/tablets, etc. With the first generation iPhone’s release, MP3 player sales peaked at around 22.7 million in late 2008.

Despite Apple’s commanding market share in the MP3 player market, selling seven out of ten MP3 players purchased, it seems that the rest of the world is beginning to realize the redundancy in purpose-built MP3 players. Smartphones can also play music, while still retaining the same level of portability. With other Apple products such as the iPod classic not having access to the Apple Store, sales for the device are dropping rapidly, with rumors surfacing that Apple is planning to drop the product.

At the end of this tale, Apple still remains as profitable as always, having a stranglehold over the tablet and smartphone markets. Considering that the iPhone 5 seems likely to be released this September, perhaps Apple should hold a small ceremony for the device that changed the shunned tech company, into a titan large enough to challenge the once unstoppable Microsoft.

Mount for iPhone SLR Lense

Photojojo just came up with another cool iPhone gadget called iPhone SLR Mount. With iPhone SLR mount you can attach your SLR lense that you have been using it for DSLR camera. Photojojo SLR mount for iPhone supports two types of SLR Lenses: Canon and Nikon as of right now, it is still unknown if they will release any other mounts that are compatible with Sony, Pentax and some other slr lenses.

iPhone SLR Mount Price

Canon Lenses: $190 for the mount only

Nikon Lenses: $190 for the mount only

I think the price as of right now is right, I am pretty sure that the iPhone SLR mount is going to be in high demand and for those that hate to carry big DSLR cameras this gadget would be perfect for them to carry with iPhone.

iPhone SLR mount picture

As you can see in the picture above, the lens used improves the picture quality and you have more control over the zoom etc… Now imagine this! take Camera+ app  + iPhone SLR Mount = Awesome pictures!

I am thinking to buy this SLR mount but will wait to see some live reviews from other people.

You can buy this mount at Photojojo

iOS 5 Release Date

Now that iOS 5 Beta 2 is out for iDevices such as iPhone and iPad, we have more clear date when iOS 5 release date might be . In the past with iOS 4, Apple had 4 beta releases and then final iOS 4 release, which same thing happened with iOS 3. Most of these beta releases were 2-3 weeks apart which clearly is strong indication that iOS 5 is coming early August.

Possible iOS 5 Beta Release Dates

iOS 5 Beta 1 = June 6th

iOS 5 Beta 2 = June 25th

iOS 5 Beta 3 = July 11th

iOS 5 Beta 4 = July 25th

iOS 5 Final Release = Early August!

My prediction is that iOS 5 release date will be August 8th which is Monday and on top of that iOS 5 Beta 1 is expiring on August 5th so that is clearly indication that iOS 5 will be released in August. When I do predictions I usually nail 90% of them to the date, not even Nostradamus can beat that! :)

So everybody pretty much knows the drill by now, but allow me to just run through it briefly. Apple announces its newest iPod. Now whether we’re talking about the first iPod ever in 2001, the iPod Photo (which was the first iPod with a color screen) in 2004, or even the first iPod Touch in 2007, the story’s the same. A massive number of units are reserved, the AAPL stock jumps and everyone’s on pins and needles until the release day, when stores can’t even keep them on the shelves. So, it’s no surprise that things weren’t any different for the release of Apple’s iPhone except that these reactions were even more exaggerated.

But the really amazing thing about Apple, is that about a year after the current model release date, they consistently unveil the “next generation model”, which is basically the same thing but with slight improvements, year after year after year. This is brilliant from an economics perspective in how it ingeniously plays off of human psychology. Explained by way of consumer behavior, Apple’s releases make the consumer change attitudes, recognize a problem; that their own iPod or iPhone is outdated, pushing them to update by purchasing again. Given that this will be the reason behind the purchase of millions of iPhone 5’s sometime in the near future, I’d like to walk through some of the current predictions for the iPhone 5’s release date.

I recently posted about the iPhone 5 release date on my blog SheBytes.com; since then, there has been overwhelming new buzz, so I thought it would be worthwhile to do a refresher on the rumored release date. There’s been so much activity in fact, that when you Google the letter “i”, iPhone 5 is one of the few drop down choices (not kidding– try it!). Many of these rumors are downright yet unsurprisingly ridiculous; I’ll share a few and then hone in on some sound ideas to build my own perspective:

First, for the ridiculous: there’s a French site called Nowhereelse.fr which rates the probability an iPhone 5 rumor is true. One of the rumors suggests the iPhone 5 will be released between June and July; considering that Apple has announced that iOS 5 will not be released until this coming Fall; this prediction makes little sense. It’s pretty clear that Apple will wait until they’ve fully completed iOS 5 to have it on the iPhone 5. Another absurd rumor about the iPhone 5 hardware suggests the device will come with a built-in 3D Display; albeit the rating of 10% probability reflects how unlikely that is.

And now, for the more serious: According to the International Business Times, “The latest buzz in the market is that Apple will release the much-awaited iPhone 5 in the first week of September…” CNET UK also speculates as to the exact date saying the “iPhone 5 release date is likely to be September 7th 2011.” iPodhistory.com, a sight that tracks…well yea, iPod history, recorded that Apple has previously released its iPod Touch on a relatively persistent schedule. Almost every iPod Touch release has been in the beginning of September, while the iPhone release dates are much more sporadic.

Taking all of this into consideration, I still think that a possible release date of the iPhone 5 will be sometime in early September 2011. Although it is difficult to predict an exact date, September 7th isn’t that ridiculous in that Apple has released many of its past products in the first week of September. But as the old finance adage goes “Past Performance Is Not Indicative of Future Results.” Quite literally: anything can happen.

One of the improvements of the iPhone 4 over it’s predecessor, the iPhone 3GS, is a slightly improved battery life. Personally, I’m happy with my iPhone 4′s battery life as I can easily get through the whole day without having to recharge. However for some others, this is not the case. This guide will show you a number of ways in which you can optimize iPhone battery life.

There are a number of factors that can contribute to having a poor battery life. The general tips below is a quick check list of things that may help to extend your battery life.

  • Minimize the use of location services
  • Minimize the use of push notifications
  • Fetch new data less frequently
  • Turn off push email
  • Turn off Wi-Fi when unused
  • Turn off Bluetooth when unused
  • Adjust to a lower brightness:
  • Turn off EQ
  • Turn off 3G when a fast data connection is not required
  • Lock Your iPhone or iPad when unused.
  • Use iPhone or iPad regularly – go through at least one charge cycle per month (from 100% to empty)
  • Do not allow your iPhone or iPad to overheat (avoid long periods of direct sunlight)

Multitasking – Closing Apps on iPad and iPhone

iOS devices with software 4.0+ will have multitasking. Although it’s a very useful feature, it’s also one of the biggest battery consumers. By default, an application automatically continues to run in the background when exited. Unfortunately you can’t change this. Double press the home button and you will see a tray of apps that are currently running in the background (swipe right to see more). To completely close apps, press and hold any app icon. Once the icons start jiggling, tap the red minus icon. The thing with the iPhone and iPad is that there are so many cool and useful apps. Without even knowing it, you will have opened a whole bunch of apps. It’s fine to leave a couple running in the background but when there are too many, your battery life will suffer.

Jailbreaking iPad or iPhone

Jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad may also contribute to a poor battery life. The fact that the device itself is jailbroken isn’t really the cause. But when an iPhone or iPad is jailbroken, users tend to install a whole bunch of modifications and utilities from Cydia. It is these extras that drain down the battery.

Monitoring and Usage Statistics

There a number of ways in which you can monitor your iPhone or iPad’s battery life and usage. By default, the iOS shows you only a few statistics such as usage time, call time and  cellular network data usage (to see this, tap the Settings icon on the Home screen and choosing General > Usage). However, there are numerous of apps in the iTunes Apps Store that shows you more information (battery health, how much battery left for varies activities, maximizing your battery life tips. etc)

It has only been 10 months since the official launch of the iPhone 4 and yet millions of potential buyers are trying to get their hands on one. So isn’t it too early to release another iPhone, Apple?

iPhone 4 nice picture could be iPhone 5

Why so soon?

The smartphone market is quite competitive and now with Android and Windows Mobiles improving almost on a daily basis, Apple have found themselves surrounded by tough competition. In order to maintain market share and even stand out from their competition, it leaves Apple no choice but to release a newer model of their iPhone line on a yearly basis.

A recent report suggests that Apple suppliers have already made plans to start manufacturing the next-generation iPhone, aka. iPhone 5. Can this report be trusted? Well, up to a certain point I guess and previous reports have also suggested that Apple would “delay” the release of the next model past the summer. Learning from the past, Apple has always released a new iPhone every summer since the launch of their first-generation iPhone back in 2007.

Specifications

With regards to the specifications of this new iPhone, it will allegedly boast a faster processor, probably the A5 which is currently featured in the iPad 2.  A higher resolution 8-megapixel rear camera has been rumoured as well. The smartphone will include a Qualcomm baseband for both CDMA and GSM models and an improved antenna. We all remember the problems with the iPhone 4 antenna (calls hanging, etc.), don’t we?

Design

The home button on the iPhone 5 could be enlarged to be able to perform double duty as a “gesture area”. Various Sources suggest that Apple is doing very “interesting things” with bonded glass technology and could push the edges of the screen all the way out to the edge, moving the earpiece and sensors “behind the screen itself.”

Reports also claim that Apple might increase the iPhone 5’s screen size from its current 3.5-inch display to a 3.7-inch one. Nevertheless, the resolution will remain unchanged. However, this change in size would reduce the device’s pixel density but will still feature the “Retina Display” technology that Apple has successfully developed and used in it’s predecessor, the iPhone 4 and both iPad and iPad 2 models.

Throughout my extensive, I came across a very interesting source that claimed that this new model would feature a new design. This new design apparently looks more like an iPod Touch, thinner and lighter than a previous iPhone model. It could also boast a “teardrop” shape, which starts of thick at the top and gradually gets thinner as it gets to the bottom, basically, something along the lines of the MacBook Air profile.

Production

Despite the recent disruption in supply related to the Japan Earthquake in March, the iPhone 5 is scheduled to go into trial production sometime in August and expected to hit mass production in early September. If everything goes as planned, Apple will be able to ship out just about 30 million units for what’s left of this year.

Nevertheless, the earthquake and tsunami disaster have reportedly resulted in constrained supplies and basic/vital component shortages for Apple, which therefore means that they will be focusing on building the new iPhone 5 and plans for another iPod Touch might be halted or delayed for a later date.

So that’s all I’ve managed to find on the iPhone 5 up till now, folks. As always, watch out for more updates on www.oclue.com. The best way of making sure you don’t miss out on any important news is to subscribe to our RSS feeds.

Have you ever wanted to change up or “pimp” your home screen without having to jailbreak your iDevice? Well now you can with an app called “Pimp Your Screen” by Apalon.

What is Pimp Your Screen?

Pimp Your Screen is basically just an app that lets you customize the way your iPhone, iPod, or iPad looks. This includes App Shelves, Neon Combos, Home Screens, Icon Skins, and even a Lock Screen Maker.

Review

When you open the app you are shown four tabs which I have listed above.

The first tab, App Shelves are basically just customized backgrounds. There are many types of App Shelves given, here are two of them:

Neon Combos includes a lot of really cool wallpapers with many colors and designs that would give your iPhone that outstanding effect its always needed.

Home Screens are also a lot of wallpapers that give your iPhone some extra coolness. Many of the wallpapers adapt very well with the Retina Display giving it an HD effect.Icon Skins are personally my favorite. They give you many choices to what types of icon skins you want, and it blends in perfectly with the all of your downloaded apps.

Last but certainly not least is the Lock Screen Maker. It gives you the ability to change not only the screensaver but also the the color of the top and bottom bars that show the current time and the “slide to unlock.”

Overall, I think Pimp Your Screen (iTunes Link) $0.99 app would be a great buy for anyone looking to jazz up their iPhone and give it some extra color. This is what my iPhone looks like after the addition of Pimp Your Screen:

Let us know what you guys did after you bought the app and comment!

Same thing goes with Windows and OS X , as I said above you can remote to any operating system, and use it just like you would use it when you are upfront of that computer.

So this guy walks in Paste e Basta restaurant in Amsterdam and bit later he find out that his iPhone has no reception. Waitress comes and apparently noticed his frustration with No Bars on his iPhone.

She asked him if he wants a glass?

He thought she wants to give him a glass of water but apparently the empty glass was for his iPhone. Anyway, long story short is that he placed his iPhone into empty glass and from No Bars signal jumped to 3 bars but no 3G etc. So he would be able to text (not sure how) and call.

So my ATT friends, start carrying empty glass with you, because you might not get as many dropped calls as you did before.

It’s quite interesting story, you can read from our friends at TheNextWeb.

SRS Labs announced around a week ago during a press release the latest generation of its sound enhancement hardware made especially for Apple devices.

The iWow 3D

The iWow 3D is designed to work together with the free iWow iOS app (available already for download at the App Store). It’s basically a dongle that one can connect to their iPod, iPhone or iPad’s 30-pin dock connector, and then plug a set of headphones or a 1/8 –inch cable into the iWow’s extended line-out jack.

What does it do?

According to the SRS press release, the iWow is said to retrieve and restore audio cues with the aim of providing “an immersive three-dimensional sound stage with renewed depth and clarity”, not forgetting deep bass, which make it ideal for all kinds of content that one might play on their device: music, video, games, etc.

SRS also made it clear that they will be releasing two models to the public. The first model is the iWow 3D which will retail at $70 and will just include the device on its own, whereas the second model, the iWow 3D Combo will not only include the device, but a set of in-ear headphones and four faceplates (blue, green, silver and pink). With four additional faceplates, the user will have the option to choose the one they like the most and swap it in place of the default black one.

The iWow App

The app gives the user control to choose what output device they have connected to their Apple device, i.e. headphones, speakers, etc. The “advanced settings” tab in the App allows the user to turn on and off any combination of Wide Surround, Deep Bass and High Treble options. Nevertheless, this app is only compatible with the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad so other iPod users will only be able to use the on/off modes when connected to the iWow device.

Where can you buy it?

The iWow 3D is currently available for pre-order on the SRS Official online web store. Their press release stated that they would start selling to the public by the end of January but for some unknown reason they didn’t. In addition, the company hasn’t provided any sort of information on when they will finally be listing it for sale (not pre-order), leaving a lot of intrigued, keen buyers frustrated.
