Upsy! Looks like Mark Zuckerberg’s fan page was hacked just a while ago. Did not take long for Facebook team to take the whole page down but thanks to friends at techcrunch who took a snapshot of it.

It says:

Let the hacking begin. If facebook needs money, instead of going to the banks, why doesn’t Facebook let its users invest in Facebook in a social way? Why not transform Facebook into a ‘social business’ the way Nobel Price winner Muhammad Yunus described it? http://bit.ly/fs6rT3 What do you think? #hackercup2011

Why or Why Not use Fb.com as email

Fb.com is short domain name, wow! even shorter than oclue.com, but unfortunately mwd is still not as popular as fb.com is. Anyway, if Faceboo Email  is coming out shortly, would you use it as your email address and replace it for your Gmail.com account ?

I am not much convinced that people will switch over to fb.com and use it on regular basis just because gmail and hotmail as well as yahoo took over the dominance of email. But who knows, maybe 10 years later we all will be using fb.com?

I personally don’t see the need why would i need to replace my current email provider, many people know my email, many people also hate when email get changed, I know I do..

Do you enjoy a rocky relationship? Beware this Christmas. May be you get some bad news. Facebook knows it.
One out of every fourteen people in this world is on Facebook and there has been one interesting off-beat use of the social networking site having 500 million members who shares their relationship on the platform.

The Mark Zuckerberg’s company tells when do people break up more. The Facebook graphic data reveals at what time of the year people are splitting up. The data chart is based on 10,000 status updates with the words “broken up” and “breakup”.

David McCandles, British journalist and graphic designer showcased the data in visual ways. He compiled the chart and showed the graphic in July at Oxford’s TED conference in England.

He and a colleague while scrapping 10,000 FB status updates found two big spikes for breakups on the calendar. First was post Valentine Day, just weeks leading to spring break. The second time of the year for breakups is two weeks ahead of Christmas. McCandles said that the graph reveals the safest seasons are Summer and fall. He adds further there is a spike in breakups on April 1, the April Fool’s Day.

Well, there is a good news for those whose relationship has broken recently. Facebook has now, due to over pressure, stopped showing photos of your ex on the people’s pages.

Project manager of Facebook Sam Odio said, “‘While users may still see Photo Memories of their former romantic partners if they didn’t declare the relationship on Facebook – as well of their current partner with that person’s former partners – the change should help heal the heartache for many users.”

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has surpassed Apple’s iconic CEO Steve Jobs in monetary worth. This is quite an impressive feat especially when it has been just five years since Facebook was founded.

At only 26 years old, Zuckerberg is valued as the 35th richest person on the Forbes 400, his estimated fortune worth US $6.9 billion. 2010 has been so far a good year for him, having added US $4.9 billion. Quite impressive than Steve Jobs if you think about it–Jobs has been an iconic figure of Apple, a company that he founded in 1976–or about 8 years before the Facebook CEO was born.

Majority of Jobs’ assets come from his stake in Disney. When he sold Pixar, his animation studio, to Disney, he acquired 138 million shares of the company. His Disney shares acquired him US $4.4 billion, while his 5.5 million shares at Apple are worth US $1.3 million.

Meanwhile, private equity investments in Facebook has risen, from 2009 value of US $7 billion to US $23 billion–or triple the last year’s worth. The illiquid private shares in non primary markets increases its even richer net value.

Zuckerberg’s 35th–but how did our favorite Apple Chief Executive fare? Currently, Steve Jobs is worth US $6.1 billion, placing him 42nd on the Forbes 400. He has gained US $1 billion since last year, but still, he can’t keep up with the 26 year old tech savvy genius.

There’s seems to be little opposing rivalry between the two, however, the two might be widening each other’s territory to overlap each other. Facebook has been rumored to release it’s own phone that’s up to par with Apple’s iPhone. Apple on the other hand, has just entered the social networking world with its recent music app Ping.

Yesterday our friends at Techcrunch had an interview with Mark Zuckerberg and main topic was “Facebook Phone” . After that interview sites like Bloomberg reported that Facebook might produce two phones who INQ Mobile Ltd will be the manufacturer and AT&T will be used as wireless carrier.

I understand that Facebook app on smartphones is cool  if not even one of the most downloaded apps in different App Stores. But creating a phone that is specific to one Social Network might seem to be a bit odd. I personally would not buy a smatphone that is so specific to one brand.

Like the T-Mobile MyTouch Fender version which just after few days failed big time. More people bought MyTouch 3G than MyTouch Fender version and I think Facebook Phone will encounter exactly that same issues.

Apple has hard core fans and their brand was build for over 2 decades and whatever they release millions of hard core fans will buy it and talk about it in most positive way no mater if its iPoop or iPad .

Facebook has 500 million users but how many of those users are hard core fans?

In entire 5 years of Facebook existence not many people told me “You should totally get on Facebook” , sure they asked me “Do you have Facebook account” but those people are not fans, they are just regular users who ask me also “Do you watch videos on YouTube” for an example.

You  might noticed that I put “Unless..” as my topic description, so here it is:

Unless: Facebook builds smartphone that users ( about 200 Million) can play games, I can see that phone as very profitable. Android 2.2 now includes Flash so games like Farmville, Mobsters etc can be played if configured correctly.

Maybe Facebook is building 10 inch tablet with Android 2.2 (Possibly Android3.0) that you can play games while at work, because as you know almost 60%+ of business companies nowadays block Social Networks due to employee productivity and security.

Well that’s just my theory, which you might agree or disagree, but what I would like to know is “What is your opinion on whole Facebook Smartphone development?

Mark Zuckerberg revealed few of the things about the Facebook Phone with TechCrunch while talking with Michael Arrington. Mark zuckerberg completely ruled out the rumor that Facebook is building its own OS or hardware. Also, is opposed the competition with iPhone and Android. Here, what exactly Zuckerberg wants is deeper social integration, posting the question, “what could we do if we also started hacking at a deeper level?” While there will be no single answer or solution for all phones, Mark firmly believes that social elements have to be designed in from the start:

On phones we can actually do something better. We can do a single sign-on if we do a good integration with a phone, rather than just doing something where you go to an app and it’s automatically social or having to sign into each app individually. Those are the two options on the web. Why not for mobile? Just make it so that you log into your phone once, and then everything that you do on your phone is social.

Earlier there were rumors stating that Facebook is planning a deeply integrated devices and Bloomberg is trotted out a trio of insider sources who claim INQ mobile has been engaged to produce two smartphones with just that purpose in mind, this was not denied by the Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg at TechCrunch.

Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg announced at a Gaming event in Palo Alto that games are one of the primary reasons some people visit Fcaebook. Also, confirmed that 2/5 of its user base is using the site for social gaming. Another surprising part revealed by the Facebook CEO is that more than 12 million users each are into top ten games on Facebook.

Zuckerberg said response this gaming activity at Facebook as it’s complicated, “while they’re in the top five things that people like, they’re also in the top five things that people hate”.
The Zuckerberg’s comments are true and here, the significant factor is that the Facebook is still growing. It is indicating that the people’s hate on the Facebook’s five things is now easily overshadowed.
