With all of the new and VERY complicated smartphones and tablets, productivity apps have become immensely popular and useful for the average smartphone owner. However, many people don’t know much about the top productivity applications

It’s direct definition is “the quality of being productive or having the power to produce” which overall, basically means the ability to get things done quickly and stress-free. Here are the top 5 productivity applications for iOS and Android smartphones and a brief summary of each.

iOS  Productivity Apps

1. Tips & Tricks – iPhone Secrets

This $0.99 application is mainly directed towards those iPhone users that aren’t very tech savvy or have never owned an iPhone before. It is essential information in over 120 written tips and free updates with each revision of iOS. The great thing about this app is they keep it new and current. Some of the tips are advanced ones that you would not find on your own.

3. JotNot Scanner Pro

Out of all of these applications JotNot Scanner is my favorite. This $0.99 app gives you the ability to scan and save documents, receipts, whiteboards and more all from your iPhone! However, this is not like a photo app at all. It makes your photo a clear black and white document, but you can also have the picture in color. Overall, this app is very useful and can help anyone out that wants to keep and save documents easily.

This $1.99 application is pretty much a better and more equipped version of iCal for your iPhone or iPod touch. Week Calendar provides a calendar overview with a better day, week, and month overview. Facebook today released new feature that will make your Facebook Tagging feature much easier. In their blog today Facebook announced face recognition tagging which basically will try to tag you or your friends in photos that were published.

This isn’t really something new , Facebook back in October launched pretty much similar feature that allowed you to tag person in group of photos instead of just one by one, this time Facebook tagging recognition software will try to recognize your face in photos that your friends posted and let’s hope that it will do good job. Some of my friends told me I look like James Dean so if somebody adds picture of James Dean am I going to get tagged? Weird huh?

facebook recognition tagging software picture

Currently this Facebook tagging recognition software is only distributed to 5% of the Facebook accounts but if all turns out to be good, many will get it by end of this year.

We’ll be debuting tag suggestions to users in the United States over the next few weeks. Look for tags suggestions when you upload groups of photos that feature the same friends, and see how they can help you share life’s occasions—large and small—every day.

Well if you are interested more about this feature I would suggest to head over to Facebook Blog and read more about it, and don’t forget to share this article on Facebook with the blue button above. (Thanks)

Mobile ad company Millennia Media found that Android ad revenue has, for the first time ever, beaten iPhone ad revenue on the company’s network.

According to the Millennia Media’s September “Mobile Mix” report, Android occupied the second-largest device status on its network, and this was continued since July 2010. According to the report, Android started to gain improvements at the rate 2% month-over-month and is currently 29%. Here, Apple’s iOS impressions are very hard to ignore as it accounts for 46% impressions.

The overall figures according to this report is as, Android ad requests improved to 1,283% since January. Rim ad requests are at 143%. Here, the significant change or difference is that the much popular Apple’s iOS ad requests are just grown to a little extent as 18%. This is clearly indicating the Android’s rapid growth this year. Although the OS may not have the raw mobile ad impression numbers of its iOS counterpart on Millennia Media’s network, it has been coming online with the company in increasingly large numbers.

Apple’s latest iPhone 3,2 was assumed to be the Verizon (CDMA-compatible) phone. It is rumored and informed through a reliable source to “boy genius” that the said device hit the “AP: testing stage. Generally this “AP”test stage is the one happens just before to its release. It means the device reached to all its final hardware and final software status and soon will be ready for retail release.

The iPhone 3,2 device contains a SIM card slot. Perhaps the facility is for:

• It is heard that the latest device could accommodate CDMA+GSM+HSPA, that means it would support Verizon, AT&T and some other worldwide iPhone carriers frequencies quite comfortably. This is indicating that the Verizon Wireless subscribers and AT&T subscribers will have the same device.

• There is a possibility that this iPhone 3,2 could be a CDMA-phone along with a capacity to hold another SIM for global roaming.

• Also, there is a possibility that this device is designed in a way that all the earlier antenna issues will not be having any chance to trouble as it did for other models.

If the information is true and sources are reliable, it is indicating that the much hyped device is soon going to see the light. Is there any chance for this holiday season?

Perhaps many individuals are not aware of the Pleco Chinese dictionary, but it has already reached two full version releases successfully. So far most of us are using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software in converting the image to text. This OCR been a great help in many times in reading business cards. Google Google-Smartphone apps which will converts images into text works through this OCR.

Now, Pleco 2.2, is the first of its kind app that is capable enough to translate text in real time using the live image presented on your phone camera display. This new feature is going to available for users from September this year and it needs iOS4. This feature can work on iPhone 4 or older 3G versions successfully.

Apple confirmed a recent development that their newly developed fix can keep the iOS software vulnerability at bay. One of the Apple’s spokes woman also said as “we’re aware of this reported issue, we have already developed a fix and it will be available to customers in an upcoming software update”, but the release date for this fix was not announced.

This developed fix is a response to the Apple’s earlier announcement confirming “investigating” on the iOS vulnerabilities.

Earlier “comex” the iPhone Dev team hacker initially identified these flaws and users were allowed to jailbreak their iOS devices. The users that were used browser-based jailbreak faced some of the Face Time and MMS service related problems. These issues were resolved instantly from the iPhone development team within no time.

All these flaws and vulnerabilities had gained a lot more unnecessary attention during this week. One German government agency took this a step forward and asked all their users to avoid the usage of PDF files on their device. In addition to this many security firms labeled this issue as “critical” too.

German government was kept on expressing their concern about iPhone 4 and iOS security features since June the same was highlighted in the New York Times too.

Now, Apple has come up with a fix for all these flaws and vulnerabilities, users should wait for the release of this fix through upcoming updates.

xbox 360 usb storage support Major Nelson just announced that XBox 360 will support USB Flash drives which can be used as additional memory storage to save Games, Demos and Profiles. The good thing is that you can take that USB flash drive to another Xbox 360 and re-configure everything you had on your previous XBox 360.  This means that instead of buying extra hard drive for your XBox 360, you will be able to use your 32GB USB flash drive.

Release date for Xbox 360 update is April 6th.

Here are some key points:

  • You can have 2 devices connected to the console at a time, enabling up to 32GB of simultaneous storage.
  • The system won’t just configure the device once it is connected to the console. You’ll need to head to the memory area in system settings, select your USB Device, and choose from Configure Now (Format and Configure the Full Device), or Customize (you can choose how much memory you want configured for Xbox360 from the free space on the device.)
  • Enhanced memory management functions, so you’ll be able to have better control on what you want to copy or move between storage devices.

Yesterday we reported that Playstation Network has been down for several hours. Late Monday night PSN Admins resolved the problem by indentifying what was causing the issue.

We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.

If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect, users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the internet

Yesterday Apple released what is now the latest update for for it’s iPhone.  Now the current version is 3.1.3.  Apple has gone only five months since it’s last update to 3.1.2.

3.1.2 fixed a bug that affected many people, including myself, that caused the iPhone to sporadically reboot.  Will 3.1.3 be as helpful?
